  • In the distant future our home, sol, lies in a time of warlords and tyrants, a time of widespread anarchy, and a time of ruin. What was once our home, Terra, has become nothing less of a ruin the cradle of humanity is nothing but a broken frame, but not all is so bleak. Throughout Sol many worlds, many peoples, many civilizations thrive on the distant worlds of Sol. In this time of self made men anything can happen from the destruction to the rise of mighty Empires.

    Basic Rules:

    1. This is a time after a great fall meaning technology has fallen substantially. Most weapons are kinetic in nature while things like Lasers are for the upper class or the heaviest of ship or vehicle classes

    2. This RP will take place in Sol and Sol alone. Every faction must come from Sol in some shape or form and may not have any outside territory

    3. No Aliens, the different breeds of Humans should do (The many different breeds of human are very 'Alien' to our minds and all the sub-species are really only related by a common ancestor)

    4. No Godmodding, Being OP, Metagaming, you get the drift.

    5. For Simplicities sake to travel from the Sun to the edge of Sol takes 3 Terran days within the RP (Judge all actions and timing off of this please)

    Faction and Claiming Rules:

    1. No Aliens as stated before

    2. No outside territory as stated before

    3. First come first serve basis for claiming

    4. Claiming rules are as follows:

    - One may claim anyone of the Terrestial planets and moons (If applicable) the Terrestial planets being Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. Pluto can also be claimed by itself.

    - One may claim part of the outer planets (As anyone solely owning Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus would be rather OP from the get go)

    - A 'Part' of a outer planet is defined as either part of the surface (If applicable) and a few moons (And please don't just swallow up all the good moons and then let let other people claim them) for Example one could take Titan on Saturn and then a few minor moons not take Titan and then all the other major moons.

Now for the planet conditions (Below each planet are the moons if applicable):

    Mercury:

Mercury was once a inhabitable rock and in most cases it still is an old terraforming project brought 'some' life now Mercury is much like tatooine in star wars (a barley habitable space rock). It has decent mineral wealth but things like water and fertile soil are extremely rare if not impossible to find.

    Venus:

Venus was terraformed not for mineral wealth but to be a luxury park for the rich and wealthy. After centuries of mismanagement and general neglect Venus has become a toxic jungle full of deadly predators, acid rain, volcanoes and heat vents a plenty, and even the air itself has become foul and toxic. But Venus's mineral wealth has yet to be tapped into for those willing to risk the creatures that dwell above and below Venus...

    Terra:

Our home world is nothing but a ruin shattered by industrialization, rampant green house emissions, and many other factors. Terra's surface is now a mix of toxic wastelands, the sea of rust (Massive junk piles stretching for miles), or barren desert just barley able to sustain life. The once great oceans are gone save one the old pacific now the size of the black sea. Life is able to still live on terra but not at the levels before. Terra's mineral wealth is stripped and bare with only basic metals being found in mines.

Luna: Luna on the other hand is terraformed to the point of being as fertile as our old Terra was the rich and wealthy live on Luna as the poor work and suffer on Terra

    Mars:

Mars was terraformed long ago to being a habitable desert with small lakes being present on the surface. Mars is comparable to what Arabia is today with some parts of mars still being rather infertile and smaller sections being fertile. Mars is rich in mineral wealth and some parts have been already mined out by corporations long ago but still some sections of mars are untapped. Scattered across mars are many old mining camps and equipment and many settlements built into the sides of the rock walls.

Phobos and Demos: Both are just for mining really they have had some mining presence but nothing major.

    Jupiter:

Jupiter itself was never terraformed as the gas it produces was deemed to valuable to waste. The people of Jupiter live on floating cities/mining platforms that collect and refine the gas. Most of Jupiter's population though lives on it's many moons.

Galilean Moons: The Galilean Moons (Lo, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto) have all been terraformed to something like the climates of the Central America.

Amalthea Moons:  The Amalthea Moons (Metis, Adrastea, Amalthea, Thebe) are mainly for mining and some have been deemed worthy of terraforming

Other: The moons that fall under the Himalia, Carme, Ananke, and Pasiphae moon groups are mainly for mining with maybe one or two being terraformed.

    Saturn:

Saturn itself is much like Jupiter with floating cities and all. It's main population lives on the moons much the same as Jupiter

Major Moons: The Major Moons (Mimas, Enceladus, Tethys, Dione, Rhea, Titan, and Lapetus) have all been terraformed comparable to the American Midwest.

Other: All the minor moons are for mining purposes and maybe one or two have been terraformed

    Uranus:

Uranus is a Ice giant and it's situation is much like the Gas Giants. Most of the planets population live on it's moons.

Major Moons: The Major Moons (Mirandia, Ariel, Umbriel, Titania, and Oberon) are a mixed group with the largest Umbriel, Titania, and Oberon being terraformed to rather laughable degree (Comparable to the russian steppes and Siberia)

All other moons are either for mining or have been terraformed to just barley able to support life

    Neptune:

Neptune itself is much like Uranus being an Ice giant and all.

The only moons of worth on Neptune are Triton and Nered both terraformed to a standard of modern day Arizona

All the other moons are for mining.

Pluto (Yes, I know, not a planet):

Pluto is barren and devoid of life and is really just for mining most of the Dwarf Planet's population lives on Pluto's moon Charon which has been terraformed to the degree of Peru

Pluto's other moons are for mining really.

    Other:

    Ceres:

Ceres has been terraformed and is a major port for miners within the asteroid belt. It is barren but livable by anyone's standards.

    Haumea, Makemake, Eirs, and Sedna:

All are for mining and that's about it.

    • Name: The New Republic of Mars

      Leader: General Markus of Haven

Background/Info: When the collapse happened all those years ago, Mars splintered into chaos. From that chaos rose the despotic tyrants and warlords which now rule the surface. These groups occasionally sort of fight one another, but each is more concerned with maintaining the status quo. However, some Humans are a bit unsatisfied with the way they're treated. Some of them know, despite their rulers and their efforts to destroy all traces of the past, that things were better once. And a few like-minded people got together. Thus was born the New Republic of Mars.

The New Republic is a disparate group of rebels united in the common goal of liberating Mars. However, they are outnumbered and outgunned in their wars, and have to resort to the use of guerilla tactics.

The tyrants of Mars have labelled the New Republic as a terrorist organization which wishes to destroy all governments and cares not at all for civilian lives. They are also often portrayed as savages, as opposed to the cleanly and dignified subjects of the local emperor. This could not be further from the truth, and the New Republic goes to great lengths to avoid civilian casualties.

Still, the New Republic's effectiveness cannot be denied. They possess but one city, and you would have to stretch to call it a city. They founded it themselves, a place called Haven, in an underground cavern with liquid water and even some plant life. Its location is top-secret, but the New Republic has bases in strategic locations in various spots across Mars. These rely on secrecy rather than actual miitary power for defense. Each time a tyrant's forces have located and destroyed a base and thus believed their enemy crippled, they were often sent reeling by a series of counterattacks. The fluidity and adaptability of the NRM is frequently underestimated.

A recent victory for the NRM came when they travelled to Colak, the capital city of a self-proclaimed Khan of Mars. They were able to infiltrate the city with their agents, which planted marker beacons next to military and security installations. With these locator beacons, camoflauged mobile artillery pieces outside of the city were able to take out military targets without collateral damage, allowing NRM strike teams to enter the city, evacuate many civilians, and even assassinated the Khan's top advisor.

Culture: The NRM are a somewhat ragtag group of rebels, and they are a definite melting pot. All sub-species and branches of Humans are welcome. In a war like this, they have no time for discrimination. They consider themselves the last keepers of lost ways. There is a saying in the NRM: "Our only members who aren't wearing armour are dead."

Strengths: Excellent skills at stealth and sabotage, hit and run and guerilla tactics, improvising destructive weaponry from whatever's on hand, and many members are truly battle-hardened veterans.

Weaknesses: One city, little in the way of other settlements, no spaceships at all, a limited amount of proper military equipment.

Quirks/Other: Many of their weapons and vehicles look very ramshackle and improvised, as they have a limited amount of true military equipment, and what they do have is precious. However, their tendency to improvise armaments often leads to some truly imaginatively destructive weapons.

    • Name: Free Federation of Jupiter (often abbreviated FFJ)

Leader: Fernac Atreides is considered to be the most powerful council member, so probably him, although he has by no means absolute control. Technically the council leads, with around 20-40 members most of the time.

Background/Info: A semi-organised group of the remnants of the mining workers around Jupiter. They control about 85% of Ganymede, about a third of Callisto and around 40% of the ports on Jupiter (including ruined ones), as well as a few mining ports on various smaller moons. The state is loosely anarchically communistic, though their council controls more or less everything that needs to be administrated (defense, expansion, distribution, etc.)

Culture: Most of the people are trying to technologically advance and your standing depends on your merit. Other than that, they respect one another and are brought together knowing that without each other they would not survive. There is little to no internal conflict, and if you want to leave or if your city/area wants to leave the federation, then you may freely do so. A few have done so, but those have not lasted long before rejoining, and the last couple are in poor condition (mostly on Ganymede and the surface of Jupiter).

Strengths: High amounts of fuel, relatively high amounts of minerals. Comparatively advanced technology (though not by too much).

Weaknesses: Little food and similar supplies, most of them coming from Ganymede

Quirks/Other: Turnips are abundant and wine is considered to be a rare delicacy.

    • Name: The United States of Triton and Nered

      Leader: Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson

Leader backround: Named after the famous Terran general, he's the son of General Joseph Jackson, who originally led the Triton War of Independance. When The Republic of Neptune led yet another assault to try and recapture Triton several decades later, it was General Thomas Jackson that lead the resistance, and with nothing more then lightly armed militia, managed to stand firm and turn back Neptune's entire army. Thus he earned his nickname.

Background/Info: Triton and Nered were colonized mainly by people from the American South and West. It has taken much of that culture, and even the accent of its people is somewhat similar to that of the ancient Americans.

Formerly a part of The Republic of Neptune, they declared their independance a few decades ago. They are a fiercly patriotic nation, and even if someone managed to subjigate them, they would find it very difficult to keep them under control.

They are not amazingly well equiped, nor do they have good technology, nor are they spectacularly wealthy. But they have a fighting spirit that will carry them through even the most dire of circumstances.

      Culture: VERY American.

Strengths: Good militia, high moral, patriotism

Weaknesses: Weak equipment, poor naval forces.

Quirks/Other: On the whole, they have little-to-no offensive capabilities. Their infantry is famous for their bravery and fortitude, and have never been known to flee from battle.

      Leader: The Governor

      Background/Info: (under species)

      Culture: (I'm bad at this)

Strengths: Probably the best technology, vast resources, many powerful creations.

Weaknesses: Care little for "savages." Have relatively few numbers and few willing to die in battle.

Quirks/Other: Prefer to use elite forces and use technology instead of great numbers of weak footmen. Have developed power suits others have grown to fear, "super soldiers" who are bred only for war, and monsters grown from chemical tanks.

      Character:

      Name: The Governor

Species: Still very much human, but a very particular type. A story revolves around how this set of people came to be. The people of Saturn were born from wealthy corporates, scientists, engineers, and military leaders, tired of life and struggles on earth, many issues some of them created. This group gathered only the most loyal of their men and women, acquired the best technology and resources, and brought with them comparable partners to create new families with. However, over years of corporates gaining the upper hand, and the earthly wars, the scientists and military descendants turned on the corporates, who fell swiftly from popular dislike. This action started a short war, which was costly, but left Saturn in a much better state. The future was bright. Secluded from the petty drama of old earth, and left with some of the best technology and biggest planets to reap, Saturn has only become more scientific and militaristicly strong. The result of these people created are naturally skilled and very intelligent.

Faction: The Grand State of Saturn

Skills and Weapons: If he must fight, has the best ship, the best power armor, and the best ion rifle.

Strengths: Very intelligent, smart, tactical. Has all the brains.

Weaknesses: Cares little for squabbling "savages", physically average, sometimes underestimates opponents.

      Quirks/Other: Nah.

I did, but that's stupid. Saturn most likely, from its distance, would be largely unclaimed. In addition, most of it is barren and dead. Plus the dominant faction would take over rather easily.

Quirks/Other: The twins were hired on by the leader of the Republic, Markus Foley. While they are normally at Haven, working on turning civilian vehicles into war machines and creating terrifying new ammunition, they sometimes take to the field. They infiltrate the war zone ahead of time, laying traps and the like at strategic points. When enemy tanks get line of sight on a Republic rocket truck, the streets beneath it explode and collapse. They're certifiable mad geniuses.

      Name: The Ferryman

Faction: Currently employed by the Great Khan of Mars.

      Species: Unknown Human

Skills and Weapons: A modified military dropship equipped with a modified crew compartment, supercharged engines, machine guns, flamethrowers. And too many missiles. He and his Myrmidons wield a great number of improvised and official melee weapons like chainsaws and bats covered in spikes.

Strengths: Strong, tough, terrifying, skilled, unafraid of death

Weaknesses: Single-minded, savage, not a strategic thinker, no ranged weapons

Quirks/Other: The Ferryman is a true psychopath, and he lives only for the kill. He built up a reputation on Mars as a highly efficient killer, earning him his nickname. He will work for anyone who can pay him in blood and slaughter and weapons for his ship. However, if he is displeased, he will usually take the head of the commander he was working for.

His savagery attracted a band of similarly depraved followers. They are now known as the Myrmidons. They are presently working for Salakhan, the Great Khan of Mars, who hired them to aid in striking back at the New Republic for daring to attack his capital.

You know, Indom, I half expected you to be a despotic warlord on Mars. I set a bit of that up thinking about you.

I knew that, I decided to do something different.

I also attempted to make my  primary science fiction faction more grey... Decided to go with the classic 'our creators are gods' trope.

    • Name: Sebhat Merhawi Ben-Ɣebrekidan

      Species: Venusian Human

      Faction: 'Älɨmaazɨ Ħɨbuuraatɨ Haagaraarɨ

Skills and Weapons: Strategizing, commanding, martial-arts, swordsmanship and other such things

Strengths: Intelligence, charisma and his disability to lie, which is seen as an asset in his culture

Weaknesses: Can become irrationally angry towards cruel people or pirates, and he is so determined that most people just consider him stubborn

Quirks/other: Owns a clownish maniac dog that’s half old-English sheepdog half standard poodle

Sebhat was orphaned young by the wars between the many despotic governments and pirate gangs that plague his planet. At the age of 18, he led a revolt, and through a combination of charisma and relatable backstory, nearly everyone who encountered him joined his ranks, and within 2 years, most of Venus was united under the banner of the 'Älɨmaazɨ Ħɨbuuraatɨ Haagaraarɨ (united lands of gold). The first elections are about to take place, and Sebhat is almost giddy to go back to being a general (although his main focus right now is to find a wife).

    • I apologise for the miscommunication

How about Ulfrun, Themis and the alpha archipelago? That would leave space for my faction, the local pirates, bandits and tribes as well as the mystery of Aphrodite

Only notes I have on the piece of paper in my note book dedicated to them has written: "Clones and God Emperors"

I'm probably going to pass the tile of GM to someone else... seeing as I don't like or run RPs very well.

It hasn't even been around that long, and it was meant to solve the problem of the hundreds of dead, unfinished threads. Which, as a reminder, was partly brought about by you.

    • No, this rule is stifling and an unnecessary limitation. On top of that, it's ludicrous to have an RP limit on an RP wiki.

It's been around for quite a while actually. And how could I be responsible for "hundreds of dead, unfinished threads"?

    • I personally don't like the rule, but until its removed I'll have to wait for a slot to open.

        Loading editor
    • I don't mind it, the problem is when people don't accept when their RP is dead. It also stops the crazy wiki population migrations. It used to be that everyone would be pumped up for a certain RP, made about 100 posts and then moved on to whatever the next thing was without a thought

        Loading editor
    • It's a very reasonable rule, but too restrictive. A clause should be added that states that if enough people agree we can override the rule for 1 or 2 more RPs.

    • ANYWAYS, back on track, this is for Discord or the thread made for it.

So Indom, I think that there would an uneasy truce between our facs with a few small skirmishes every now and then.

    • That sounds good.

The delayed reply was due to my revising my already completely overhauled science fiction page.
